Skiing with Earbuds

Bluetooth earbuds are advancing all the time, and one feature that is perfect and quite often desired for the snow is transparency mode.

With transparency mode, the user can set their Bluetooth earbuds in a way that they can still hear what’s happening around them. They are the perfect wireless ski helmet option for snowboarding and skiing.

skiing or snowboarding with bluetooth earbuds

With true wireless earbuds getting better and better all the time and their shape becoming sleeker, it’s easy to find earbuds that will suit skiing and snowboarding.

There are earbuds that now sit inside the earlobe and don’t protrude too far out of the ear, meaning they won’t push against your helmet.

Portable earbuds’ support and stability have come a long way too. A lot of earbuds have different kinds of mechanisms that will help keep the earbuds in the ear, so you won’t have to worry about having one falling out and getting lost in the snow.

So, with all these advancements in Bluetooth earbuds, they are becoming more and more a feasible option. Just remember, white is probably still not the best option for little portable earbuds on the snow.

It could be very hard to find one if you were to drop one of the earbuds while setting up. We have an answer to this minor problem, though, which we have added into the Apple AirPods Pro section of this article.

Are Bluetooth Earbuds Best for Skiing?

Why wouldn’t Bluetooth earbuds be useful for skiing and snowboarding? It comes down to finding Bluetooth earbuds that will work well under pressure. With a lot of movement happening when you’re on the snow, it makes sense to look for earbuds that offer required support.

An idea would be to look for true wireless earbuds that are recommended for the gym or running, where there is also a lot of movement going on. This will help guarantee the earbuds will stay secure in your ears while movement is happening.

With support and stability from an outstanding set of earbuds that are constructed, so they stay in your ears no matter what, you will have a fabulous experience on the slopes without having to worry about your Bluetooth earbuds falling out.

Say ‘goodbye’ to those annoying wires that you had to plug into your phone and ‘hello’ to freedom without restriction.

Apple AirPods Pro: are they good for Skiing?

Apple AirPods Pro
  • Active noise cancellation
  • Wireless charging
  • Adaptive EQ
  • 24 hour battery
  • Transparency mode

When it comes to using Apple AirPods Pro on the snow, it seems there is quite a division. Many people say they are fantastic, and others just don’t seem to like them at all.

We really can’t see why AirPods Pro wouldn’t be a good option, if a few things are thought about in advance.

Supplied with both noise-canceling and transparency mode, AirPods Pro make the perfect companion for skiing or snowboarding.

They are packed with all the features you’re ever going to need while in the mountains, enjoying the powder.

A wireless charging case gives the user 24 hours of listening time, and the AirPods Pro earbuds last up to 4.5 hours from a single charge. Also, a 5-minute charge will give around 1 hour of playtime, which can be handy.

There are, however, other Bluetooth earbuds out there that have a lot more playtime from a single charge.

Looking for comfort, AirPods Pro has 3 different sized tips for you to choose from.

Due to their shape, it may be a little hard to keep them secured in your ear with extreme movements.

However, this would come down to the user’s ears and whether they can get a secure fit from the AirPods.

Lastly, another reason people don’t like using AirPods could be that they are white.

If you drop one of these in the snow, there’s a good chance you won’t find it again.

There is a way around this, though, and it can be used on any kind of earbuds, not just Apple’s AirPods Pro.

Best Bluetooth Earbuds for Skiing with a Helmet

If you’re looking to shop for portable wireless earbuds that you want to use for skiing or snowboarding, then here’s what’s best. Make sure you select earbuds that are going to fit firmly into the earlobe and not fall out easily.

There are several earbuds that can give you a firm fit and can be molded further with different wings and tips. It’s all about which ones will fit your ears best, and sometimes this can take a bit of working out, especially if you have sensitive ears.

Also, look for earbuds that will not stick out of your ears too much. If they stick out, then there is a chance they may hit your helmet and cause discomfort to your ear. For example, in this case, a set of Bose SoundSport Free wireless earbuds may not be suitable, as they stick out too far.

These true wireless earbuds have been tried and tested and are shock resistant.

The S-Fit earbuds have an IP67 rating, which makes them totally waterproof and able to be submerged in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

What’s the Best Ski Helmet with Bluetooth Speakers

Well, when it comes to Bluetooth helmets for snowboarding and Bluetooth ski helmets, there’s not a lot of them to choose from. We have named a helmet below that is one of the best ski helmets, in our opinion.

If this helmet doesn’t fit your needs, our recommendation to you would be to buy the best ski helmet that suits your needs and requirements and then get some form of aftermarket listening device for your audio.

For example, portable earbuds or audio pads are the best ski helmet options available.

This way you will receive sound in a more comfortable and uninterrupted way while still having the best ski helmet for your needs.

Livall Smart Bluetooth Ski Helmet RS1 with Helmet Bluetooth Headset

If you’re looking for an all-in-one wireless Bluetooth helmet, this is the only one we could find that comes close in performance. Yes, it has all the audio features you could ever need for skiing or snowboarding.

The battery will provide 48 hours of standby time and 16 hours of walkie-talkie time with good range.

If you’re listening to music, it will, of course, be much less.

The audio pads are fitted to either side of the ski helmet and have buttons to allow you to take calls and adjust volume levels as required.

Also, tracks can be skipped in the same manner.

There are other features that this ski helmet has as well that aren’t always included with other options, such as:

Livall Smart Bluetooth Ski Helmet
  • Live location sharing
  • Anti-loss alarm
  • Fall detection
  • PTT Walkie Talkie
  • One-click call answer

A helmet Bluetooth headset with everything you need all inside the helmet.

Packed with features, the Livall smart Bluetooth ski helmet is streamlined and is modern looking. It also has a mic that will filter out any background noise or wind rush to keep your calls clear.

If you’re on a budget, this Bluetooth ski helmet could be a fantastic option. You get a helmet and a Bluetooth headset for basically the same price as a set of ear pads or Bluetooth earbuds would often cost. It’s the best Bluetooth ski helmet we could find, in our opinion.

Ski Helmets with Built-In Bluetooth Speakers are not Really Good Enough

We found that the Livall smart Bluetooth ski helmet was the only ski or snowboarding helmet that was of any kind of reliable standard.

Any of the other ski helmets that had audio built-in looked to have cut costs across the board in the construction of the helmet. And, if it wasn’t the cheap helmet, it was most definitely the audio tech that was installed in the helmet.

In our opinion, a helmet shouldn’t be built cheap and should be able to protect you in case something untoward happens. If it’s not going to protect you, then what’s the point. As for audio, if the helmet isn’t going to provide a clear sound, then it shouldn’t be there.

That’s why, if you already have a functional helmet, then just go for some earbuds, AirPod Pro’s, helmet headphones or slide-in earpads, as you will most likely get a better result.

Time to head for the slopes with your new Bluetooth Speakers or Earbuds

Before you head off to the slopes, be sure to grab a fantastic set of audio drop-in pads or portable earbuds for your helmet.

They make great gifts for any ski enthusiast. With a pair of earbuds or drop-in pads, you’ll be able to have an enjoyable time skiing or snowboarding on the powder listening to a fantastic sounding audio from your new ski helmet speaker.

Just remember, when you are trying to select an option that is best for you, that you want to be comfortable as well as protected.

Lastly, always be alert and aware of what’s happening around you, when you’re in the mountains.

So, get out there and enjoy the music from your new Bluetooth ski helmet speakers on your next outdoor adventure.
